How long will it take to complete the DocL?
The process of applying for a DocL is simple. First, make an enquiry and we will send you a brochure that explains the regulations for the certification. It will outline how you can claim and provides examples to help you select your evidence. You will then check your publicly available evidence and ensure your total credits meets the 540 credits requirement. You will also decide what specialism you wish to achieve.
You will then complete a simple form with the title of your evidence and the associated URL along with a link to a public profile such as LinkedIn, or a corporate or academic website that has a record of your work experience to evidence the minimum 10 year work requirement.
If you are using existing qualifications such as an MPhil you will need to send us a certified copy of your certificate. All of your other evidence should be public.
This process could take a few hours if you have already documented this evidence, for example in a LinkedIn profile. You may have already linked your profile to patents, projects and other high profile awards, recognitions and achievements.
It may take a little longer if you need to certify evidence such as for a qualification.
You then pay the fee and upload your form (with evidence if required).
What happens after I submit my application?
Two assessors will be allocated to verify your claim. Both assessors will have PhDs. If you have made an error in your claim you will be provided with one opportunity to correct your claim without a further fee.
Candidates whose claim has been approved by both assessors will be awarded a DocL certificate and can then use the letters DocL after their name.
